A Tradition of Compassion: Nursing Program Graduates Honored in Emotional Ceremony

Tears, laughter, and a profound sense of accomplishment filled the campus gymnasium as the newest class of nursing candidates celebrated their official pinning ceremony.
Surrounded by a sea of proud family members, dedicated faculty, and supportive staff, the graduates were honored for completing one of the most challenging academic journeys in higher education.
The ceremony commenced with a striking and time-honored tradition. The gym lights dimmed as the nursing candidates entered in a solemn processional, each holding a glowing candle. The flickering light illuminated the faces of a cohort ready to answer the call of healthcare. Together, the graduates recited the Nightingale Oath, a poignant pledge of nursing ethics and fidelity to the profession.
Kim Behrens, Associate Dean of Allied Health Programs, welcomed the enthusiastic crowd, noting the immense grit required to reach this milestone. President Primavera Monarrez then addressed the class, offering words of praise for their dedication to service and human comfort. A moving keynote speech followed, reminding the graduates of the profound trust patients place in their hands.
The afternoon reached its emotional peak during the pinning of the graduates. In a deeply personal twist on the tradition, families joined the graduates to bestow "pre-pinned" sashes upon them. Hugs, tears, and cheers erupted across the platform as loved ones officially welcomed the candidates into the nursing profession—a beautiful conclusion to a day defined by hard work, love, and community support.
